The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries

Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark includes the Department, the Danish Agricultural Agency, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and The Danish Fisheries Agency. There is approximately 200 full-time employees in the Department.

The Department

The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries is responsible for administrative and research tasks in the areas of farming, fisheries and food production. In Denmark the administration at state level is managed by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries. At the regional and local levels, much of the administrative responsibility has been delegated to the municipalities.

The Ministry consists of three agencies and local Centres across the country. 

  • Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark was first created in the summer of 2015 as a result of the fusion between The Ministry of the Environment and The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark.
  • On 19th of November 2020, it was decided that the Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark was divided into two again: the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries.
